Job Description
Analyze well performance trends, pressure data, temperature data, and reservoir conformance to identify optimization and risk mitigation opportunities
Develop and steward steam and NCG allocation strategies across wells and pads to optimize reservoir performance and improve energy efficiency
Provide reservoir performance insights input into ESP performance, well design, setting operating limits, intervention planning, and brownfield developments
Identify and manage reservoir risks including steam breakthrough, conformance issues, gas handling constraints, and reservoir containment
Support pad start-ups, ramp-up strategies, and long-term depletion planning
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the asset team
Ensure management practices meet regulatory and internal governance requirements
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance recovery, reduce operating costs, and improve asset performance

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
12+ years of experience with a focus in Thermal SAGD within the oil and gas industry
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical)
Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics and use/development of digital solutions (PowerBI, programming, modelling software, etc.)
Expert in SAGD recovery mechanisms, conformance, and thermal reservoir behavior
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary and field-based teams
Strong written and verbal communication, self-motivated, critical thinking, and having an innovative mindset are an asset
